Overview:

The Home Health Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant/COTA conducts treatments as
assigned by the OT and outlined in the treatment plan to patients in their place of residence.

Responsibilities
    Conduct treatments associated with functionality, activities of daily living/ADL's, and fine motor coordination based on the patient's physical, social, and cultural environment.
  • Monitor patient's response to intervention and consult with the Occupational Therapist if modification is required.
  • Train and educate patient, family, and caregivers in the use of adaptive equipment and environmental modifications.
  • Assist the OT in the evaluation process and in identifying short-term and long-term goals and treatment plans.
Qualifications/Skillsets
  • Graduate of an ACOTE accredited 2 year associate OTA degree program.
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a COTA in this state.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Minimum 1 year recent work experience as a COTA.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance.
  • Basic understanding of age-related differences in caring for and communicating with patients and caregivers.
  • Ability to meet productivity expectations, organize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Work independently without supervision, and use good judgment in difficult situations.
  • Possess personal sensitivity to the needs and experiences of others and a non-judgmental attitude towards persons of differing standards, values, lifestyles, and ages.
